River of Lights

The River of Lights, hosted by TLC Plumbing & Cooling as well as ABQ BioPark is an amazing experience for all! 24 years ago this event started as a fundraiser and has been a staple in many family holiday traditions ever since (at least that is what I gathered from this past Saturday)! It opens the weekend after Thanksgiving and it’s a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season!

This was my first time attending this event, but this will for sure be an annual event for my family from here on out. My little one gave us a big thumbs up the moment we walked into the park and from then he was nothing but smiles throughout! There was a time ticket entry, and we purchased our tickets prior to that day (I bought ours a little over a week in advance, and there were signs at the park that indicated the event was sold out).

There is a specific path you walk while in the park; I am not sure if this is how it always is, or if this was something put in place due to COVD. In certain areas there were a few more holdups than you had in others, but there were still plenty of opportunities to stop and take pictures. We took my little one in a stroller and aside from a few sand spots it was easy to manage, it was also wheelchair friendly.

For some crazy reason I did not think about the parking prior to arriving at the BioPark, and well let’s just say parking was a NIGHTMARE. We ended up parking in the lot of a hotel, now while I don’t recommend this, it was the best option we had at the time. If you get to the BioPark with a lot of time to kill, you can wait in the line to actually get into the parking lot of the BioPark, but we didn’t choose to do so.

This event is held Monday - Sunday and is an affordable way for you to enjoy seasonal fun with your family! Ticket detail and pricing are here: https://riveroflights.org/
